Изразът „Претърпяване на фиаско“ идва от наименованието на стара италианска двулитрова бутилка (fiasco), подобна на българската дамаджана. Историята е за един италиански комик на име Bianconelli и неговия неудачен опит да разиграе пред публика пантомима с такава бутилка. След този му провал словосъчетанието „Fiasco di Bianconelli“ станало нарицателно за актьорска бездарност, а самата дума „фиаско“ продължила да се използва като „провал“.
